Korean Language Examination (EPS) Sees 144,000 Nepali Applicants

Rise of Nepali Youths Willing for South Korea - More than Lakh Student Appeared in EPS TOPIC Language Test

Sure thing! The Korean Language Examination (EPS) has seen a huge rise in people applying this year. It's a big deal for Nepalis who want to work in South Korea. The EPS office got a whopping 143,812 applications by the deadline on December 22, 2023. The reason for this sudden increase is mainly because they made it easier to apply online three years ago. Gurudatta Subedi, who runs the EPS office, said that using the internet to apply has helped a lot in getting more people to apply.

Normally, the EPS is the way for Nepalis to get jobs in different areas in South Korea. But this year, even more people applied, including those who didn't pass the test in July 2023 for jobs in shipbuilding. A court decision said those who didn't pass before can try again, adding more people to the list of expected test-takers, possibly reaching 175,000.

South Korea plans to hire 15,848 Nepali workers in 2024. Right now, they're only taking applications for jobs in making things (like manufacturing). The exact dates for the test aren't set yet. But more and more Nepalis seem interested in working in South Korea. This shows that the way people find jobs is changing, especially with more using the internet for jobs in other countries.
